Ryan and Catherine

Island boy meets Prairie Girl, and they fell in love…

I remember sitting on the beach with Catherine in Cancun just days before Christmas, almost 3 years ago. She was telling me about the plans her family had for Christmas festivities back home in Saskatchewan. Turns out her family was hosting the major gathering at Emma lake and their very close family friends were bringing in more family from Vancouver Island.  A very close friend of Catherines had married another islander a few years earlier and was now word on the street was that Ryan his  younger brother was coming to visit. Catherine was skeptical of this visitor at first, tossing around the idea that she might actually have to pick up this “strange guy” at the airport on her way home from Saskatoon. Little did she know…after meeting these two were quickly inseperable over that holiday season. Their love grew over the next few months as Catherine got prepared to graduate and she accepted a position on Vancouver Island.

2 yrs later I got to capture them as they exchanged vows. Its been a blessing to stand by and watch as their love ignited and continues to grow with a passion like none other.  I am so lucky to know these two and laugh to myself as I think not only do Catherine and I share the same profession but we are two Prairie girls who are suckers for Island boys. And we like it like that.

Thanks to you both!!

..may they always live happily ever after…!

Danielle and Brad…sneak peek

October 29, 2009

The morning of Danielle and Brad’s wedding I woke up to an overcast sky, I used all my positive energies to ward off the rain in the forecast. The rain held off…until just before we were heading out to take their photos! But these two were prepared, plan B was to start the shoot at the restaurant Passatempo located in the beautiful Spirit Ridge resort. We dodged the rain, got some beautiful shots and then when we were ready to head out to the reception the rain had stopped! Danielle said “lets go to one more spot!” and I did not even think twice! What a trooper! So off we went to capture some beautiful images in the valley at the end of the afternoon. Caught some wicked cloud action too!  Danielle and Brad are a dynamic couple, so in love and incredibly supportive of each other. This local couple is driven to succeed through their independent, Osoyoos based business called  Kick Start Printing. Thanks you guys for including me in your special day and for all your techincal help and the awesome service you provide at Kick Start!!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

Duguid Family…sneak peek!

October 21, 2009

Filed under family, just for fun

I remember when I was small getting on the swing on the playground and pumping my legs back and forth making the swing go higher, higher, higher….so high that it felt like if you would strech your legs  a little further your feet would touch the clouds. A feeling that made you think that you just might be able to fly.  The wind would rush past my face and my blonde curls would swirl around in a blur. Then on a moments notice I would JUMP from the swing and fly, if only for one fleeting second…only to come crashing to the ground, curls in disarray. Giggles would burst out and I would get up and try it all over again!   This shot of Emily reminds me of those days!

The Duguid’s are a family abundant in energy, they are non-stop fun and upbeat. Infact I first met Eva in our early morning bootcamp classes at Breathe studio. The positive energy vibes that connects this family are contagious! After this session I went home cleaned up, made supper for friends and managed to wrap up a wedding shoot!! wow!! It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon trying to keep up to the girls and their Golden Doodle Buddy. Just imagine if we could bottle up the energy of a 6 year old everyday?? Imagine what we could accomplish!
