Lozinski Kiddos

I spent an evening hamming it up with some of the funniest kids around! Meet the Lozinskis’!! These 3 were non-stop for the camera, making each other laugh the whole time and having a blast with me running around a packing house!! After we were done with the photos ice cream treats were promised and we filled ourselves up with the good stuff from DQ while cheering on our Canucks! Such a fun night, thank you so much.

I should also mention that the Lozinski’s won their photo shoot through a donation of a family photo session I made to a silent auction for the Osoyoos Relay for life. An all evening walk-a-thon raising money for Cancer research!

Thanks for your donation to research for a cure, I likes me a generous heart : )

The sun is shining, and Im off to enjoy a beautiful day with my very dear friends Michelle + Mitch as they begin their new life together as husband and wife! Click on the link for a throw back to 2009 when these two fiiiirst met. Im thrilled and a wee bit nervous to be photographing friends on their wedding day, wowza what an honor. Im also really looking forward to catching up great friends tonight and with a few of my past bride and grooms to see what their first year of marriage has blessed them with! My photo bags are packed up and Ive verified our timeline about a 1000 times, Im ready for this! Today also marks M’s final exam day (good luck M!!) and his time to return home to a more regular routine with me. Hurray!! Living solo again was a little fun at first I have to admit, less laundry, less dishes, big ol’ bed to myself….but….Its been a long four months and I miss the pillow talk and those dimples big time!

Celebrate love today ya’ll.

Rachel + Bobby

Sweethearts Rachel + Bobby met in highschool. They really, really did. Although Bobby didn’t officially ask Rachel out until after they had graduated. These two have a 6 year history together! They seem like the kind of couple that everyone knew would get married, everyones just been WAITING for it to happen! The time is here!! The love and sweetness, cuddles and hugs that oozed out of every minute of our time together left me feeling so excited for them and their future together. Six years strong and I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. These two are simply so comfortable in their love together. We were threatened with thundershowers and lighting cracking overhead, these two didn’t flinch. They just snuggled up a little closer. sigh! (seriously first series of photos = lighting bolts in the sky, literally). But then the clouds broke and the sunshine poured down on us! hurray!!

It was a joy to photograph you both as your spend your last couple months as “boyfriend” and “girlfriend”. Cannot wait for your summertime wedding!

Love R + B??  we do. we hope you do to0!

here is your chance to tell em’! comment below : )

Part 2 DREAMERS – live shoot

June 11, 2011

I’ve never participated in a “live” shoot before, or a workshop for that matter.  A first for many of us!  This was the lay of the land, somewhere in the mix there is our fearless leader Jamie Delaine and you can juuuuust catch a glimpse of our models hat.

Get yer elbows out ladies if you want to get the shot. Channel your inner paparazzi and hustle, hustle, hustle….!

Here come a few shots that I managed to snag!  Leanne + Sam we so great to work with and so patient as 18 cameras fired away!  Jamie was efficient and instructed us in lighting, camera setting and client conduct.

Niki + Brett married at Spirit Ridge Resort here in Osoyoos early in May.  A perfect venue of a couple of wine lovers! Our day started off with the gorgeous bride Niki as she put on the final touches with her friends and family gathered around. The boys met us up at the roof top patio for the ceremony. We all held our breath as the clouds turned dark navy blue over the mountains to the west. Niki was radiant as she gracefully took to the isle arm in arm with her Dad.  The officiant had a great message about serving each other in marriage. He used a clean white towel to represent the newly weds “serving” each other as they start their new life together. A few moments later he displayed a tattered and torn up “serving” towel that represents a couple 50 years down the road, everyone laughed! The take home message was to be self-less in your marriage, serving each other in love, awwe. A great reminder for everyone! As Brett leaned in to kiss his bride the first rain drops started to fall and the couple skeedaddled down the isle all smiles!  As we took shelter inside to wait off the rain it poured so hard we wondered if it would ever stop? Its so rare to see showers like that here in Osoyoos. It means good luck and great fortune if it rains on your wedding day right? N + B think so!

We snapped a few indoor photos as the wedding party shared champagne and just as they finished the rain eased off and we finished up their portraits outside! Hurray!

The evening reception was held in the swanky Passa Tempo restaurant at Spirit Ridge. A cozy atmosphere on a rainy night suited everyone just fine! Niki had the tables decorated beautifully, and as we snapped photos of the details we caught a guests iphone streaming the live Canucks play off game. I don’t think that was part of the decor, unless maybe Brett had something to do with it??

Thank you both for inviting us to share in your celebration!! We hope you enjoy your photos!

this weekend I gathered with 3 handfuls of incredibly talented women to take part in Jamie Delaine’s - DREAMERS workshop.  I didn’t sleep well Sunday night I was full of anticipation for the day ahead of me. I wanted to be a sponge, absorb it all, I couldnt wait. I fretted about how I was supposed to navigate from Langley to Fort Langley, I did not know how to work the GPS that I borrowed from a friend. My mind wandered…what if I break down, or worse get lost. What if I get lost and miss the workshop all because I cant navigate a 15 min drive to my destination on glover road. Oh dear I’m in over my head. over my head. I dont spend alot of time in cities these days and quite honestly trying to drive around in them sans co-pilot wigs me out a little. My small town has 2 stop lights. This works well for me. THANKFULLY my wonderful host family the Peters, (who I photographed at Spirit Ridge earlier this Spring) draw the worlds best home made maps, make the best granola and were the best cheerleaders to pump me up for the drive ahead of me.

I made it to Fort Langley just in the nick of time and was greeted at the front door by Jamie herself. Smiling she welcomed me into her darling studio as we chatted about what we had been up to since August 2010. “i made it!” and “so nice to see a familiar face” and “ohhh I like your new hair” and “look at this place, i love it”. I turned the corner inside and tucked in snug as a bug were 15 other beautiful faces smiling back at me, many which I had seen before online and via facebook. It was so awesome to finally be really say hi and laugh, compliment and share ideas. I was a little intimidated by the sight but could not wait to get to know them more over the course of the day.

At my seat sat a 2 small packages and a card. Gifts from Jamie. Chocolate for breakfast and a simple journal to house my dreams.

Jamie opened up to us about her business, her past, what she hopes for in the future. We discussed vision, branding, defining your business and your ideal client, inspiration, the power of your website/blog, client experience, wedding day timelines, pricing, submissions, outsourcing and participated in a LIVE shoot lesson in lighting and edit session. She poured it all out in 12 hours or less. I listened, took notes, thought about what she was saying and imagined how I could harness these lessons and apply them to my business. I filled up my notebook margins with ideas. Focus points. Directions to pursue with my business. How to be-more-awesome, and how to show you how awesome I am.  At the end of the day I was awestruck by Jamie. My mind was a whirlwind.  She was so honest with us and candid about herself and her business. She spoke from the heart and showed us how important it is in every little way to consciously move forward every day.

As I hit the highway that night enroute back to Osoyoos my mind was a buzz. I was on a high. High on life. It gave me alot of time to think about myself and to evaluate where my life was at, and where its headed. What is important to me? What do I love? Why? What does my teux-deux list look like??

find space to dream.

This has been the accelerator and shot of energy that I needed. And heading into a busy summer season it could not have  been more perfect timing. Thank you Jamie, so very much for your time. For all of your hard work in putting this event together. For your confidence in stepping up on your soap box to encourage and lead others. For the collaboration with other stellar vendors, your beautiful models Leanne + Sam who helped make the day extra special. For reminding us to make ourselves and our families a priority, and finally for your thoughts and your inspiration for us all to move forward in this industry.

live fearlessly and dream forward.

PS.  Watch for PART 2 DREAMERS – LIVE SHOOT  featuring Leanne + Sam….there was just too much for one post : )
