Miranda and Ross glowed with positive energy and excitement about the anticipated arrival of their daughter, Bristol. The day we met Miranda was about 3 weeks away from her due date and as happy as could  be. We explore around the water’s edge and into the forest for a variety of looks. Wardrobe props supplied by Tacy at Highberry Dew and my talented friend Tina at Platinum Floral Designs in Victoria graciously donated the beautiful florals for the session! At the end of the session Bailey, Miranda + Ross’ highly excitable pup joined us for a few snaps too! Last night Miranda + Ross became a family of 3 as they welcomed their daughter Bristol to the world! Congratulations to both of you!!!

Megan+James15082014_3 copy

My brother-in-law James and his wife Megan are getting ready to welcome their first baby – AND our “official” first niece or nephew! Obviously J+M are very excited and I took the opportunity to capture their happiness with a few photos. Megan was relaxed, comfortable and easy going throughout the early evening - wearing pregnancy so well who can believe she was 8 months plus a week when these photos were taken. We all think she should really do this more often ;).  I recruited the help of my best girl Tacy of Highberry Dew – A design house to work her creative stylings for a couple of scenes for M + J. I loved her idea to incorporate the custom antique children’s bed and “Junior” bunting, a nickname coined by the expecting parents for their new babe. She also had Megan do a bit of homework gathering 3 of her food cravings to bring to the session. Styled on Tacy’s antler tray in 3 small plates we find – gummy bears, snap peas and crackers. With snap peas being Megan’s ultimate favourite!

when I was home in Manitoba for a visit, long long long loooong time friends of mine Randy + Shelley were getting ready to celebrate the arrival of their second wee babe! we got together one evening to visit and, of course – snap some family photos. Bella was as chatty as ever and her imagination ran wild as we searched the woods for silly monkeys and angry tigers! she fell in love with the neighbours cat, and so to add to the smile factor Randy + Shelley also posed with the cat. hehe! so much FUN!

we wrapped up the session just as a rager of a wind and lightening storm rolled in. A perfect way to end the evening in my books! I sure love a good prairie thunderstorm ; )

Randy, Shelly + Bella welcomed a new little man to the family on June 1 2012. Jacob Ryan Froese! Congratulations to you both. I can’t wait to meet him!

while mom and dad weren’t looking….”here kitty, kitty, kitty….”

i think we found the silly, monkey…

Michelle + Mitch – expecting!

You may recall element photography’s most famous couple…M + M! Gracing the element photography blog with their stunningly good looks in a spontaneous love session in 2009 (technically not engaged at this point), their lovely June 2011 wedding, and many just for fun snaps of life, with me, with Mitch and of just Michelle in between!  At 8 months pregnant Michelle made the trip to Victoria to catch up with her sister Nat and myself for a much needed break before baby arrives in May. She is ever-so-fabulous and showing off her baby bump with such great style. As we walked and shopped the inner Harbour it was so fun for me to see all the people who would smile at her in passing, ask her “when are you due” – May, “do you know what you are having” – girl (!!).

3 final outfits – 3 great locations – shopping – ice cream – healthy meals – triplet baby lambs – Coombs Market – Cowichan Bay – ice cream – s’mores on the beach – getting dolled up – laughs – quality conversation – instagram – great girls weekend

She’s cute, I love her and can’t wait to meet the wee babe in just a few weeks!

I’m still in disbelief. I almost deleted the email by accident on my iphone. I paused a second and instead opened it without reading the subject line in full. I burst out in a fit of giggles (alone) in the coffee room at work. I stared at it for what felt like an eternity as it sunk in. I was just chosen by Weddingbells Magazine as “One of the 25 most inspiring wedding photographers of 2012″. say whaaat?! me? so fun. Thank you for being so supportive of photographers like me and for the acknowledgement.

Make sure you check out the link. There’s a heck of a lot of talent going on over there!

Thank you to my brides + grooms for your quirky creativity! High fives everybody and back flips (if I could). Thanks for the massive support!

Little Raegan decided to arrive a little earlier than planned, she wasn’t about to miss out on the holidays. Born on Dec 22 2011 she was home in time to enjoy the holiday celebrations! Erin, Graham + Kyah were so happy to welcome the new little pink bundle and being that it was the holidays there were lots of extra hands to help them get settled in at home. Talk about adorable nursery, felt owls, woodland critters and a plush bear rug to pull it all together! A little outdoors lady in the making, she even had some red plaid ones-ie to show off! At our session Raegan was just 10 days old. She slept through nearly the entire afternoon – I love when they do that! After we wrapped up it was apple cider and cuddle time for me. And I may have fallen just a little bit more in love with her! Such a little doll, she is but i’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

erin + grey = baby on the way!

I could photograph erin, grey + kyah every year over and over. I will never tire of their gorgeous-ness. ever. And now the Allen’s are expecting!! More stunning babies to come! This is what early Decemeber looked like in the Osoyoos area. We had hoped for a snowy session, but there was no winter wonderland to be found in the south Okanagan. Instead we still found patches of green grass : )

A session filled with red plaid, wooly socks, touques + mittens, static-y hair, shortbread and hot cocoa. This ones a favorite for sure!

This was my last photo session before the Christmas holidays! Thanks to all my clients and supporters for the wonderful year, we wish you all the happiest of seasons.

be blessed!

Catherine + Ryan – baby bump

July 27, 2011

Catherine + Ryan are thiiiiis close to welcoming a wee one into their family. And I mean thiiiiis close! It was a race, me against the babe…who would finish first?? Me as far as I know! Catherine and I graduated together from the U of S in Saskatoon a few years back. I photographed their beautiful wedding in Prince Albert, SK and now I got to photograph them on the brink of the arrival of baby #1!

I really enjoyed having these two infront of my lense again, repeat customers are the best! The new stage they are at in life is so exciting and it was so great to catch up with them too! We met up on Vancouver Island when I was visiting my family for a holiday. i love Van Isle.

Catherine was so relaxed and radiant during out session, laughing along and only struggling when I asked her to “stand up, sit down, no stand up again”. Im sorry for this Catherine, Im a little naive when it comes to the art of sporting a bump. oops! The lovely momma-to-be was at the 8 month mark during out shoot at Genoa Bay Marina. Im no expert on bumps but she rocked a perfect 8 month bump if you ask me : )

M + me thank you again for the fun dinner date at our favorite place to grab a bite, the Shipyard! Sending you all our best!!

cant wait to hear the news!!

element is on FACEBOOK! become a fan and keep tabs on us!

PS. August photo session are completely booked up, September weekends are full and October is quickly filling up too!

Meet the McLeans! Kirsten and Len joined me a few weeks ago relaxed as could be, anticipating the arrival of there new little baby.  Coming in just 4 quick days from that shoot! Meanwhile there little guy Brody tore up the play ground, laughing, making friends, and teaching me how to tie his shoes. As he grabbed the ends of two laces and punched them randomly into the air. Too cute!  We wandered around the playground chatting about how their summer was, if they had the nursery ready and what they had been up too lately. Brody, at two years old was not one to slow down he had me chasing him all over the park to capture his sneaky little grin. Great morning of fun and a few snaps to show off! Congratulations to you both, Im looking forward to meeting your little bundle soon!
